my knitting history & journey

During the dog days of August 2022, I learned how to knit seriously. My first project was a small sweater vest made for my plushie, Fristopher, adapting a human-sized pattern from a YouTube video to a 15" tall frog size.

I wish I could say I picked up the skill smoothly, but honestly, my tension wasn't consistent until a year into my journey. Learning how to knit has been so rewarding. I love that I'm able to create garments in another way, in addition to sewing and crocheting.

My approach to my knits is exploratory with a preference to learn concepts and applying it to freehanded work. I learn best by first following tutorials then creating something using the knowledge I've gained.

It's also because yarn is expensive and I prefer to spend money on materials than patterns.
